Denise Rotheimer of Barrington will appear on the November ballot as the Democratic candidate for Lake County Board District 17. She was named to the ballot by a caucus of precinct committeemen in the District after the withdrawal of Bob Friend. Friend ran unopposed in the Democratic primary in February and withdrew due to personal reasons.

"I am running because I want to ensure that our voices as residents are heard and our concerns are met," said Rotheimer. "As a Lake County Board member I can hold our local government accountable for the way residents are treated and how taxpayer dollars are spent."

Denise Rotheimer is a long-time Lake County resident, 2007-2008 board member and philanthropy director of the Hawthorn Woods Women’s Club and a member of the Lake County Coalition to Reduce Recidivism. She works as a licensed agent in the insurance industry and is the author of a 2007 memoir called Sight of the Soul: A Place to Belong

Rotheimer feels that the most important issues for the county board are ensuring public safety, preserving our way of life and protecting the environment. She also believes that Lake County board members should be accessible to residents. For that reason, she will be available to talk to residents every Thursday morning from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Egg Harbor Restaurant in Barrington.

The 17th District of the Lake County Board encompasses the southwest corner of Lake County; all of Cuba Township and parts of Wauconda Township and Ela Township. Communities in the district include all or part of Barrington, North Barrington, Lake Barrington, Port Barrington, Deer Park, Fox River Grove, and Island Lake.
